FUMC ESL Thanksgiving Celebration!

You are invited to FUMC E.S.L. Annual Thanksgiving Celebration!

When: NOVEMBER 18th, Thursday at 10 am

Where: First United Methodist Church’s Family Life Center (13th Street and Lavaca St)

This coming Thursday, FUMC ESL will celebrate Thanksgiving together as our tradition. Our teachers will prepare American traditional Thanksgiving meal for us! And, Rev. Barbara Ruth, senior pastor of First United Methodist Church, will come to our feast and meet with us.

All are invited, please join us our Thanksgiving party!

What: 29th annual International Holiday Market
When: Friday, November 12; 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Saturday, November 13; 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Where: Genesis Presbyterian Church
1507 Wilshire Blvd., Austin 78722
(east of IH 35 between Airport Blvd. and 38^th Street)
Cost: No admission charge. Cash and checks only, no credit cards. Lunch is available both days for a small cost.
Why: The city-wide International Holiday Market offers shoppers an opportunity to purchase unique, handmade crafts – such as baskets, holiday ornaments, jewelry, bags, pottery, clothing, musical instruments, paper and note cards, home furnishings, toys, and brass ware – from nonprofits that assist artisans in over 20 countries. Proceeds are returned to the artisans, providing jobs, an income, and hope for people from developing areas. Austin’s International Holiday Market is part of the international fair trade movement – an effort to establish an equitable and fair partnership between marketers in North America and producers in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and other parts of the world.

A Letter from Taiwan

I had been back to Taiwan at last weekend and started to work. I wanted to thank you and let you know how much I enjoyed learning English with you in Austin, TX. I enclose the photos which were taken in Austin for you and Ms. Cathy. If you guys have any chance to Taiwan, Please let me know and I will be a very good tour guide.

Joshua, our Chinese voice major, is completing his studies at UT and will return to China at the end of this month. He has invited us to his recital. I plan to go. It is Wednesday, Oct 27th at 8PM in the Recital Hall (not Bates Recital Hall). Map attached. Hope you can go. He is singing primarily western music.
